Quality Control Management & Engineering

Environmental Services

Environmental staff are qualified to perform Phase I Environmental Site Assessments (ESA's) and Phase II Environmental Site Assessments.  These services help to identify and mitigate potential Recognized Environmental Concerns (REC's).  Services include site assessments, historical document review and testing materials where applicable. It is critical to meet the ASTM E1527 Standard Practice for Environmental Site Assessments and the local water agency's oversight authority.  Knowing how to approach and project and work with the oversight agencies is critical in saving our clients time and money.

Geotechnical Engineering

Our staff have over 40 years of local geotechnical experience and this results in local solutions for local projects.  The Geotechnical Department includes registered Geotechnical Engineer, Registered Civil Engineers, Certified Geologists, Staff Engineers and Staff Geologists. Key areas of expertise include slope stability, deep foundation designs, dams and mass grading operations.  Staff look at a variety of investigative techniques including test pits, using drill rigs, cone penetrometer testing and sonic wave analysis. Our engineering team brainstorms each project to challenge ourselves and drive to deliver unique solutions.

Geological Engineering Services

Our staff include Certified Engineering Geologist (CEG) and staff geologists to evaluate geologic hazards related to seismic concerns.  The team works to evaluate seismic conditions and site specific responses during potential seismic events.  This discipline is critical when designing essential service facilities like schools and hospitals. Incorporating geological experience into the geotechnical arena delivers a collective analysis of the site challenges a project may face or the future impacts that might develop.  Our geology staff include Certified Geologist, Certified Engineering Geologist and staff geologists.

Quality Control Management

We have an entire department dedicated to supporting construction and contractor quality control programs.  This includes USACE certified QC Managers, Submittal Review Staff, QC Plans and SWPPP's.   QC Specialists are available to provide mechanical, electrical and plumbing (MEP) inspections.  QC Management experience include USACE, Navfac, FHWA, USBR, Veterans Administration, and local agencies.

Special Inspection & Testers

Our field inspectors are ICC certified to inspect concrete, post-tensioned concrete, masonry, structural steel, fireproofing, high strength bolting and specialty materials.  Our field testers are qualified to test soils, asphalt, concrete and other materials to meet contract requirements.  Specialty services are provided to meet unique testing programs.

Laboratory Testing Services

Each lab is capable of testing soils, concrete, masonry, asphalt and other construction related materials.  Laboratory staff perform testing in accordance with ASTM, Caltrans and AASHTO test methods.  Each laboratory is managed in accordance with ASTM C1077, D3666, D3740, E329, AASHTO R18 and Caltrans standards.  Our labs are periodically reviewed by outside agencies including CCRL, Caltrans and AMRL.

Plan Review Challenges

Plan review cycles fluctuate and in the building department it is difficult to expand or contract quick enough to respond to these fluctuations. ACE works to fill those gaps by being a support alternative. Our plans examiners are certified in their areas of expertise and are committed to results.
